Our weekly series of advertising at the top universities in each conference focuses this week’s blog on The Big Ten Conference. Despite its name, the conference includes 14 universities with the largest being, Ohio State with over 61-thousand students and the smallest, Northwestern University with nearly 22-thousand students.  Below we analyze the top 5 Big Ten schools, based on the 2021 best college rankings list.

 Northwestern University 

At the #9 spot in Best College Ranking, Northwestern is a private university that sits near the shore of Lake Michigan just north of Chicago. Known for its journalism graduate program, the school also has one of the largest student-run philanthropies in the country, Dance Marathon.

At Northwestern, 60% of students live in campus housing (dorms and apartments), which is unusually high for any large university. Knowing this, one of the impactful media strategies to reach these students efficiently is distributing customized door hangers to the student dorms and apartments. University of Michigan

 University of Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin has just over 33-thousand students, 900 student clubs, and a robust Greek life. University of Illinois

 Ohio State University

OSU is not only the largest school in the Big 10, it has one of the largest student enrollments in the country with nearly 47-thousand undergrads & 14K graduates. Despite its size, nearly 1/3 of all the classes have fewer than 20 students, that’s impressive! The campus is nestled in the center of Columbus which is located in the center of Ohio. If you are a high schooler in OH, you want to be a Buckeye!

OSU’s campus being centrally located in Columbus has multiple campus out-of-home options to reach students where they live, study, work, and play. These large format displays reach students on the campus transit buses, while students are having a meal on High Street (street furniture/ billboards) or in and around the university’s buildings on kiosks or bike panels. This diverse campus OOH network is the most robust student branding opportunity across the country at one of the largest US universities. Any new product or service launch should start at OSU!
