Dunkin’ contracted OnCampus Advertising (OCA) to drive traffic to its locations and encourage students to download and use the Dunkin’ mobile app. The promotion included a $5 gift card accessible through the app. The campaign reached students at 23 college campuses across New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and the Chicago area.

OCA developed a grassroots plan to connect with coffee loving students in their dorms and around campus. Teams of student brand ambassadors were deployed to distribute doorhangers and flyers to promote the Dunkin’ app, the $5 gift card and the nearest Dunkin’ location.

Brand ambassador teams targeted dorms across the campus communities, distributing 48,000 doorhangers and an additional 145,000 flyers. The door hangers and flyers called attention to the ease of ordering from the Dunkin’ app and encouraged students to download the app to redeem their $5 gift card by visiting one of their nearby locations. Dunkin’ saw an impressive 50% redemption rate on the gift cards.
