Halloween is the most popular student holiday of the year, according to National Retail Federation. They reported that almost 70% of 18-24 year olds dressed up in 2010, over 50% were either throwing or attending a Halloween party, and almost 40% visit haunted houses during the month of October. But your business doesn’t have to be in the realm of seasonal products such as costumes and candy in order to reap the benefits of increased spending during the start of the holiday season. Here are some helpful marketing tips to attract students to your brand this Halloween:
Hold contests and share on social media.
Host different contests during the month of October to have your customers win prizes and access benefits. The contest theme can vary from most creative costume, best celebrity impersonator, scariest photo, or best-carved pumpkin. Encourage your fans to share their photos on social media to build more sales and brand exposure.
Reverse trick or treat.
Dress up in your company’s logo and go around to different campuses and pass around boxes of candy with your company’s logo on it. This is a great way to gain recognition about your brand in a fun way.
Offer limited edition products for subscribers.
Consider selling your products in limited edition colors or packaging to attract interest for your established customers on campus. For example, sell your product in Halloween colors, or alluring fall flavors of pumpkin or apple. Your loyal subscribers will want to get your limited edition product before it sells out.
Don’t stop marketing once November 1st hits!
Encourage customers to upload and tag photos of themselves with your product the next few days to establish a connection. Consider prizes for contest winners or loyal fans to be gift cards or certificates to your business valid through next Halloween. Therefore, you will be able to ensure that once next Halloween approaches, you are guaranteed repeat consumers.
