According to Business Insider, millennials will have the power to influence 30% of retail sales by 2020. While it can be tricky for businesses to target this demographic efficiently, there are some brands that strike a cord among millennials and succeed in capturing their attention. Study Breaks College Media compiled a list of various strategies marketers should use to attract this audience and brands that utilize them efficiently. Due to effective marketing strategies, these brands have succeeded in obtaining the coveted millennial market:

The clothing store’s engagement strategy has served as an efficient outlet to target teens. The store’s app connects shopper’s PayPal accounts to facilitate checking out and to increase sales revenue. Retailers also installed iPad kiosks in stores to attract teens to browse and purchase items. Business Insider reported that in 2014, Aeropostale’s mobile traffic skyrocketed to 164 percent.                                                           

Taco Bell

Two years ago, Taco Bell decided to drop their kids meal in favor of catering to an older teenage demographic. They introduced the breakfast menu that features the Waffle Taco. This combination of breakfast and tacos sparked a social media frenzy – a ton of posts, comments and reactions online exclaiming millennials’ fascination and desire to try it. Taco Bell has over 10 million fans, over a million Twitter followers, and over 300 thousand Instagram followers, all waiting to see what Taco Bell will devise next in the fast food world.

Originally known for their creative advertising, the company has recently wooed millennials with their focus on satisfying the late night munchies. Items on their menu such as the stacked cheeseburger, loaded nuggets filled with cheese, ranch dressing and bacon, and the brunch burger, bring in college kids craving midnight junk food.
