Marketing Lessons From The Professionals: Part 2 – Spreading Awareness

Many people today think advertisers and marketers are heartless. It is not a consumer’s ideal world to be exposed to advertisement in every aspect of their lives; however, many brands are starting to combat this by using their advertising and marketing campaigns to spread more awareness then just their brand image. By using advertising to spread a message or a good cause it shows consumers that your brand cares more about just making money; you care about society and their customers as a whole. This can cause the audience to be more interested in your brand, spread your message and increase brand loyalty. Who wouldn’t want to support a company that cares about the environment, health awareness and many other important issues in our society today?

In the past few years many brands have taken this root and done it successfully. For example, Chipotle released a commercial entitled “The Scarecrow”, which shed light on the harms and wide use of processed food. This commercial not only was able to make customers think about their health and what they’re eating but also allows themselves to promote their brand at the same time.

Another campaign which was widely known was the Dove “Real Beauty Sketches” campaign. In this campaign Dove put together a series of documentaries which allowed women to see that they are more beautiful than they think they are. This campaign brought to attention the self-image issues amongst women is our society.

Campaigns like the two mentioned above tend to become viral on social media because they are more than just a simple advertisement. By companies showing their support for different issues in today’s society it will allow consumers to identity with the brand and feel a personal connection with the brand.

Here at OnCampus Advertising we can help you spread awareness of your brand all the while appealing to today’s millennials who are driven by social change and awareness.
